Would a Pajarito Trails Festival Event be a Good Idea for Los Alamos?

The Pajarito Trails Fest is a proposed annual, multi-day celebration initiated by Places and Spaces Los Alamos to highlight the extensive and unique trail systems of the Pajarito Plateau and Jemez Mountains near Los Alamos, New Mexico. The core vision is to unite diverse outdoor communities—including hikers, mountain bikers, trail runners, birders, and equestrians—to promote stewardship, recreation, and appreciation for the Los Alamos area's natural beauty and recreational offerings. The festival is envisioned as a collaborative effort, inviting various trail user groups, trail organizations, trail system managers, and local businesses to host component events during the festival, providing education on responsible outdoor ethics, offering evening cultural events like films and presentations, and fostering strong community engagement with the goal of driving economic benefits to local Los Alamos businesses.
